Sawfish

There are some parts of the FAQ i would like to change, for example the part about GimpMill and the sawfish-themer. Probably we should find a way keep synchronized this page with the text file distributed with Sawfish. --Aav 15:31, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

The plain text file is not the problem. That's a matter cut & paste, maybe some minor edits. But the FAQ is also part of the info manual. I don't know texinfo markup, but I think that will be harder to translate. If everything else fails, somebody will have to do it by hand (because you're right: The FAQ needs to be updated). --Sven Schoenung 15:58, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Ok, what do you think of modifying the wiki FAQ page and eventually convert it to texinfo format, manually or using a script (if we are luky to find one =)? --Aav 08:11, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Sure, do it. I searched for a script to do the conversion, but wasn't lucky yet. I don't think the FAQ is likely to change that often anyway, so you could just ask Derek Upham (sand@blarg.net) on the mailing list if he can include your changes. --Sven Schoenung 08:53, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Totally agree. Please edit FAQ here. When we will make a release I will make sure that in the tarball there will be an updated FAQ. And I hope that Derek Upham will help in putting it also inside texinfo, for the release. It is already decided that in new release we will have an updated texinfo from him. I will create a 1.3.1 release todo now. Janek Kozicki 11:43, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm going to remove the part about "themer" and GimpMill (http://registry.gimp.org/plugin?id=478) from the FAQ. I tried hard to get themer working but without success, from what i can see, it needs to be ported to GTK2.x and i'm not sure it deserves the effort. Someone remember how it works? If i find time, i'll try to install an ancient Debian version to see it running myself, but no promise. Today i looked at GimpMill, it fails to load on a recent Gimp version. I suppose it wasn't touched for 6~7 years. My pet peeve project is to find a way to reuse current Metacity themes on Sawfish... --Aav 08:52, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Ok, i've slightly updated the wiki FAQ page and the related texinfo file, i'll send it to Janek if it's good enough. Someone knows if Sawfish could be still compiled using Imlib instead of GTK/GDK? --Aav 16:03, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
